Mackinac Island.....

Last thursday we left for a nice long weekend to Mackinac Island via the upper peninsula. It took us 4 hours to reach Escanaba MI where we stayed for the night and then friday morning we reached St. Ignace where we caught the ferry for the trip over to the island. The ferry ride over was pretty chilly but once we got there it was a beautiful day- and one we enjoyed by seeing the island on foot. we couldnt check into our condo until 3 so we first found a place to eat and then set off. We saw Fort Mackninac and Fort Holmes which is the highest point on the island. We also did some "shopping" and enjoyed a nice cold lemonade by the water before heading to the condo to get settled in. On saturday we woke up to rain but by the time we headed out to find some breakfast it had stopped. We walked the 2 miles into town (watching our step) as we went along. We also rented a tandem bike (something I've always wanted to do) and rode the 8 miles around the island - in under an hour I might add!!! Saturday night was the Lear wedding and sunday we headed back home. A wonderful weekend indeed!!! Fort Mackinac....
